Capric Acid is a decanoic acid, which means it has ten carbon acids. The Capric is derived from a latin word that mean “goat”. Capric acid is called such because of its olfactory similarities with goats. Capric acid is a medium chain saturated fatty acid that is commonly found in natural fats and oils, such as coconut oil, palm kernel oil, and in some animal fats. It has anti-fungal and anti-viral effects. Capric acids used in drugs have increased lipophilicity. This means it becomes soluble or easily dissolved in fats, oils and lipids. Capric acids are easily digested by the digestive tract, increasing metabolism and stimulating the burning of fat cells.

Caprylic Acid

Lauric Acid is a medium-chain dodecanoic fatty acid that can be found in coconut oil and palm kernel oil. When ingested, Lauric acid turns in monolaurin in the body.
