Cassia Tora L. Seed is also known as Senna tora. It is a legume in the subfamily Caesalpinioideae. Cassia seed is the dried ripe seed of Cassia obtusifolia L. or Cassia tora L (Leguminosae). Its pharmaceutical name is Semen Cassiae. Recent research shows that Cassia tora seed contains chrysophanol, obtusin, aurantio-obtusin as well as vitamin A. It also contains anthra-glucoside which has a laxative effect. CAssica tora can also contract the uterus. Its seed water infusion can inhibit dermatomyces, while its alcohol infusion can inhibit staphylococcus, bacillus diphtheriae, bacillus coli; typhoid and paratyphoid bacillus.

Nardostachys Chinensis Batalin Rhizome is the underground stem of the plant species mentioned in italics. The rhizome (underground stem) and roots of the plant have found to posses medicinal properties. The main chemical components of the plant are a class of compound called guaianoids. Nardoguaianone A, B, C and D are the guaianoids found to be present in the rhizome. In Chinese medicine it is believed to regulate the chi energy. It relieves pain and improves the functioning of the spleen which is an organ important for the immune system. It also provides relief in tooth aches and swelling of the feet. It can be ingested by grounding into a powder and using with water or applying topically.
